Strengthening the role of Somali Women in peace-building projects through implementing Women Solidarities and consensus-building activities in Baidoa District of Bay Region was a vital project that empowered women groups to actively take part and positively contribute to peace activities in Baidoa and develops basic life of the people. The project’s aim was to mobilize and empower the women who were the most target group of the project in order to get together and build networks that could implement peace activities in collaboration with the concerned villages –sub-district peace committees.
Through the project 48 peace committees were formed and selected from the 10 villages of Baidoa districts. The objective of the Committee was to promote the peaceful co-existence of the different groups in a given section/subsection as well as neighboring sections/subsection through peace-building, dialogue, and arbitration in cases of conflict.
