Bwdo, in collaboration with taakulo somali community and acted horn of africa, hosts village-level discussion on women’s role in grassroots peacebuilding In a significant initiative funded by the United Nations Building Fund (UNBBF), the Development Organization (BWDO), together with its partners Taakulo Somali Community and Acted Horn of Africa, recently facilitated a vital village-level discussion on the crucial role of women in grassroots peacebuilding. The event emphasized the importance of empowering women as key peacebuilders within their communities.
Key Highlights of the Discussion:
- Engaging local women leaders, youth representatives, and community elders to share valuable insights on peacebuilding.
- Identifying and addressing the barriers women face in contributing to peace processes.
- Exchanging experiences and best practices for conflict resolution at the grassroots level.
The primary objectives of the discussion were to equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary to mediate conflicts and foster peaceful communities. In addition, the event sought to build networks and strengthen connections among women leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local authorities, enhancing collaboration to support sustainable peace efforts. Lastly, the discussion aimed to raise awareness about the critical role women play in achieving lasting peace and security at both the local and regional levels.
At BWDO, we believe that peace begins with the contributions of every woman in every village. By working together, we are building a stronger, more peaceful future for all.
