On October 26, 2024, BWDO successfully hosted a dynamic event that brought together 60 participants, including women from Baidoa villages, representatives from women-led civil society organizations, and officials from the Ministry of Women. The focus of the event was on advancing women’s rights and strengthening community advocacy.
Throughout the discussions, participants addressed the significant barriers women face in achieving economic independence and political participation. Cultural challenges were highlighted as critical obstacles that limit women’s roles in leadership.
Together, attendees explored actionable solutions, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness, community education, and mentorship programs. These initiatives aim to empower women and encourage them to take on leadership roles within their communities.
This impactful project, funded by Danida and led by Save the Children in Somalia, is being implemented by BWDO in collaboration with GREDO Somalia. The collective efforts aim to break down barriers and create a supportive environment for women’s empowerment and leadership.
